’Tis (always) the season for generosity and joy

It is better to give than receive, so goes the popular saying. And modern science demonstrates that, in many ways, it really is true! Generous people are happier, healthier, and live longer.

Those of you who listen to NPR may be familiar with Science Friday. For those of you who aren’t, Science Friday is a regular radio/podcast program that promotes itself as “the source for entertaining and educational stories about science, technology, and other cool stuff.” Hosted by Ira Flatow, Science Friday explores a wide range of scientific topics.

If you work in pain or addiction research you’re probably familiar with a Naloxone Challenge, when a patient is given the opioid antagonist drug naloxone to determine if they are opioid dependent, but today we’re going to introduce you to the social issue facing many addicts, which we’re calling the Suboxone Challenge.
